SMART DIGITAL is the MedSilesia cluster's Industry Competence Centre and a medical-device cybersecurity lab. Rather than reviewing documentation, we actually verify the security of live OT/IoMT equipment through penetration and fuzz testing — including its secure connection to a hospital HIS system.

Penetration and fuzz testing
Verification of medical devices at the network, wireless-connectivity, hardware/firmware and companion-application layers — following NIST SP 800-115 and OWASP ISTG, mapped to MDR/MDCG 2019-16 and NIS2/KSC.
HIS system built on Mirth Connect
Our own integration system replicating real HL7 v2, HL7 FHIR and DICOM data exchange — used to test device connections and attempt to "poison the system" with malformed messages.
Local AI model
An assistant running entirely on the lab's separated infrastructure — supporting anomaly detection in logs and network traffic, vulnerability triage and report drafting. Data never leaves the Centre.
Demonstration and training lab
A workstation with a decommissioned device showing both secure and insecure configurations — training for cluster members, manufacturers and facility technical staff.
